Consentio is a digital trading platform for the fresh produce industry. It connects suppliers and buyers with automated orders, real-time offers, and market insights. The platform serves 7,000+ users across France, Spain, the USA, and the Netherlands, with clients including Aldi, Carrefour, Anecoop, Kroger, and Metro.

As Director of Engineering, I lead the engineering organisation and technical direction. The challenge is building reliable, real-time systems for an industry where speed matters: produce is perishable, margins are thin, and downtime costs real money.

Takeaway

Fresh produce taught me that reliability isn't optional. When your platform goes down, food spoils and people lose money. That urgency shaped how I think about engineering culture: you build for the worst day, not the average one.
